Spay and Neuter Services

The veterinarians of Springboro Veterinary Hospital strongly believe that spaying and neutering your pet is extremely important for your pet's health and for animal welfare in general.

Maximum Care Spay and Neuter Service

This service offers the maximum level of care for your pet, and is available Monday thru Thursday throughout the year. In all our spay and neuter services we provide a high standard of care; sterile surgery performed by dedicated professionals. Maximum Care in addition provides additional presurgical diagnostics, added monitoring to help protect your pet if a surgical or anesthetic emergency should arise, and go home pain control.

Eligibility:

  • All pets- for animals over 5, certain high-risk breeds or high-risk individuals we may suggest additional pre-anesthetic evaluation.
  • May be combined with a declaw, dentistry, and other procedures at the doctor's discretion.
  • Scheduling available Monday through Thursday

Service:

  • Pre-surgical physical exam
  • Pre-anesthetic testing- a cbc/profile to make sure your pet is not anemic or dehydrated
  • No additional charge if the veterinarians determine that a specialized anesthetic protocol may be needed for your pet.
  • IV catheter placement and fluid administration during anesthesia (Fluids help maintain blood pressure and protect the kidneys and other vital organs during surgery. An IV catheter allows immediate venous access if additional medications would need to be given during surgery)
  • Anesthesia including a pre-anesthetic agent to relax your pet, intravenous induction, and maintenance with gas anesthesia
  • Sterile surgical procedure: This includes the use of the surgical suite, preparation of the sterile instruments, and all disposables used during the procedure.
  • Visual and high tech monitoring during anesthesia to provide the earliest possible warning of a potential problem. Monitoring includes one or more of the following:  blood pressure monitoring, and/or continuous EKG
  • Hospitalization for the day
  • Up to 3 days of post operative pain medication specifically tailored to your pets needs
  • Free suture removal and recheck if needed
